    Notes:

This is a single source posting notification; there are no solicitation documents for download. Note this posting is not a Request for Bid (RFB) or Request for Proposal (RFP). This has been deemed a single source purchase because Riegl USA, Inc. is the sole source provider for the purchase of Riegl products in North America. They do not sell or resell any products to distributors or dealerships.

The State of Minnesota, Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Metro Surveying, intends to purchase One (1) Riegl USA Laser Scanner.

MnDOT already owns 10 network licenses (2017 version) to process the data gathered by this type of equipment in the field. MnDOT already owns one (1) Riegl USA Laser Scanner. The purchase of a second scanner using the same software will allow both devices to be used concurrently on the same projects without the need to manipulate or integrate the data gathered by a non-Riegl machine. This will save time and labor expenses while keeping the integrity of the data fully intact.

Riegl has demonstrated the ability to create and export line features and digital terrain models from the vendor’s RiSolve software directly into Topo DOT for the extraction of features and linework into MicroStation and Geopak: Mn/DOT's standard CADD system and Survey/Civil Engineering Design software, respectively. The ease of use and the speed of the scanning are major parts of the decision to go with Riegl. It starts scanning with a single push of a button, unlike other scanners which require a significant amount of user input and setup. It also finishes a scan session in under 3 minutes and often as quickly as 30 seconds, far exceeding other scanning systems. This speed allows Surveys personnel to complete tasks faster and be removed from the hazards of traffic, a significant increase in safety.

If there are any concerns regarding this single source opportunity, contact Bonnie Lundgren at Bonnie.Lundgren@state.mn.us before 04/06/2023, at 2:00PM ( Central Time). Include the reference number and title of the posting in the subject line. Or you may call the HelpLine at 651.296.2600 (MN Relay Service for persons with speech or hearing disabilities: 711 or 1.800.627.3529) or fax your request to 651.297.3996, ATTN: HelpLine.
