The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has purchased tire anomaly detection device systems and Weigh in Motion (WIM) systems from Mettler Toledo to be installed in various locations statewide. Weigh in motion systems use specialized sensors to measure the deflection in the sensor to approximately measure the weight of the wheels and axles as they cross the sensor at freeway speeds. The proprietary nature requires that Mettler Toledo performs, or oversees, the installation and integration of the system.

Minnesota Department of Public Safety has determined that Mettler Toledo is the only vendor that can provide these services. This is deemed a single source purchase due to the propriety nature of the system installation.
