The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) intends to procure twenty (20) Quadjoy 4 Kits from Quad Life. The Quadjoy 4 Kit consists of a hands-free mouth operated computer joystick for individuals with quadriplegia. The kit includes a joystick and mounting options required to evaluate the assistive technology needs of the Vocational Rehabilitation Participant requiring assistive technology to obtain/maintain employment.

DEED determined that Quad Life is the only available vendor that can provide this product. This equipment is plug and play, meaning that it can be connected to a computer without the need for additional set up, software, or costs. Employers view this as a more reasonable accommodation. Other options are geared towards gaming (which Vocational Rehabilitation Services cannot support) or specific powered mobility devices. This is deemed a single source purchase because the Quadjoy 4 Kit is solely distributed and supported by Quad Life and is not readily available from other vendors.
