The Minnesota Department of Education intends to proceed with the registration for three MDE employees and three MDH employees to attend the The National Academy of IDEA Administrative Law Judges and Impartial Hearing Officers (The Academy). The Academy is the only conference in existence that is specific to the administrative law judges (ALJ) and impartial hearing officers (IHO) who preside over special education disputes between school districts and parents. Only IDEA ALJs and IHOs and those with oversight of them are permitted to attend.

The Academy is hosted by Special Education Solutions, LLC (SES). SES is the leading provider of professional development programs and technical assistance on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to varied clients and audiences, including State educational agencies (SEA), administrative law judges, hearing officers / mediators, and others (e.g., IEP facilitators, State complaint investigators, attendees of national and State conferences on various special education topics, the Center for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education (CADRE)). SES also provides to its SEA clients systems consultation and evaluation.
