The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) intends to purchase six (6) Model 8872 dataloggers to be deployed as part of MPCA’s Air Monitoring Network. These devices capture data from multiple ambient air monitors, stores the data, and submits it to the central office. The dataloggers also conduct specific calibration tasks for these monitors.

The federal Environmental Protection Agency requires MPCA to monitor specific pollutants andcompare levels against the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. MPCA’s Air Monitoring Unit already includes more than forty (40) Agilaire Model 8872 dataloggers. New units must be compatible with existing dataloggers in order to run the customized Air Vision software MPCA uses to collect and maintain air quality data. Accordingly, MPCA has determined that Agilaire, LLC, sells the only commercially reasonably available commodity products to meet its needs. The needed Model 8872 dataloggers are solely distributed and supported by Agilaire, LLC, and are not available from other third parties. For these reasons, MPCA has determined this to be a sole source purchase.
