The State of Minnesota, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) intends to enter into an agreement with Smith-Root, Inc. to purchase APEX electrofishing control box with cables and APEX electrofishing control box without cables.

The unit currently uses electrofishing equipment from Smith-Root, Inc. which is only compatible with other Smith-Root, Inc. equipment. New equipment needs to be compatible with existing equipment. The Apex electrofishing control box also has specifications which are needed by the unit to conduct watershed monitoring across the state which can be only found with the APEX electrofishing control box.

The APEX is the only electrofisher with built in scientific data monitoring and recording that allows to download the recorded data via flash drive to analyzing and mapping.

The MPCA has determined that APEX electrofishing control box is the only commercially reasonably available commodity product.

This is deemed a single source purchase because Apex electrofishing control boxes are solely distributed and supported by Smith-Root, Inc. and are not available from other third parties.
