The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Ecological and Water Resources Division (EWR) intends to enter into an agreement with Innovasea Marine Systems Canada Inc. for up to 3 months to provide specialized fish telemetry equipment, including tracking tags, hydrophones, transponders, and monitoring software. All equipment will be used to perform research on invasive carp species in Minnesota waters.

EWR has determined that Innovasea’s equipment is the only commercially reasonably available commodity product. EWR is conducting invasive fish species research in partnership with the U. S. Geological Survey, the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Services, and the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources. All of these groups are using Innovasea equipment. EWR must do so as well in order to continue collaborating effectively. EWR receives a price discount for participating in this multi-state collaborative research. Additionally, EWR has already invested in an array of accessories and tools that can only connect to and interface with Innovasea fish telemetry products. This is deemed a single source purchase because the needed equipment is solely distributed and supported by Innovasea Marine Systems Canada Inc. and is not available from other third parties.
